Jakarta, 19 December, Pondok Indah Golf Course, on 21–23 December 2023, will again hold the most prestigious professional ladies golf tournament in Indonesia with the name Simone Asia Pacific Cup 2023. This tournament will be attended by 48 professional golfers and 10 amateur golfers from 16 countries. The championship has two titles, namely the individual title and the team title, with a total prize of up to USD 750,000. The team competition (USD 200,000) and the individual competition (USD 550,000) will be held for three days from December 21–23, 2023. This event is organized by AGLF (Asia Golf Leader Forum).
At the press conference session, players such as Princess Mary Superal (Philippines), who won last year, Atthaya Thitikul from Thailand, who was ranked first on the LPGA Tour in October 2022, and Jaravee Boonchant (Thailand), Dayeon Lee (Korea), Nasa Hataoka (Japan), and Gabriella Then (United States) took part in answering questions from the media crew.
When Golfplusonemedia asked Princess Mary Superal (Philippines) about the pressure after winning last year, she answered, “Coming back to this tournament, I am very excited. I can play with golfers from many countries and learn from them. Last year, I didn’t expect anything; I just came to play and focused on my game. I am very happy because becoming a champion has increased my self-confidence. “I don’t expect anything; just focus on the game,” said Princess.
For Atthaya Thitikul, Indonesia is not a foreign place because she once won a junior tournament at the Pondok Indah Golf Course. “It’s true that I once won a junior tournament here, but I am determined to win as a pro player. This is one of the last tournaments of the year, so I will try my best and enjoy the match,” said Atthaya.
From Indonesia itself, names such as Patricia Sinolungan, Ida Ayu Indira Melati Putri, and Inez Beatrice W for pro players and Kristina Natalia Yoko and Elaine Wijaya for amateur players emerged. Plus Putri Aisha Amani, who received an invitation from the Asia Golf Leaders Forum (AGLF) as the tournament owner. These six players will represent Indonesia at this year’s event.
After playing last year as an amateur and now with pro status, there is a desire to achieve more. I feel lucky and proud to be back. This is a fantastic opportunity for ladies golfers to show off their skills. This is a great opportunity for everyone to be able to show their skills on the world stage, and the people of Jakarta will come and watch this match, so I can’t wait too. This week, you can play with players ranked in the top 10 in the world. “One of the biggest desires I want to achieve is to improve my own performance,” said Patricia.
