LIV GOLF ADELAIDE 2024
Unbelievable. Amazing. Unreal. These are just some of the one liners heard to describe the ending of a stellar tournament we have just witnessed. Now breathe.
RIPPER GC AND STINGERS MADE LIV GOLF HISTORY IN FIRST EVER TEAM PLAYOFFS
UNBELIEVABLE CROWDS
The only times we have witnessed crowds of this scale and magnitude during a golf tournament would probably have been at Majors like The Open (not all of them) or at Ryder Cups or to be more precise, when Tiger Woods won the 2018 TOUR Championship in Atlanta Georgia during his great comeback win. Other than that we have not seen the likes of such a golf tournament anywhere in the world since… until now.

THE MAN BEHIND THE IDEA OF MODERNISING THE SPORT OF GOLF
So what was the reason and how could a golf tournament, organised by a fledgling golf tour like LIV GOLF, held in a distant continent, you may ask, become such a phenomenon in less than 3 years? Well, I would attribute the success to a number of reasons but the first and most important reason would be because of this man… Greg Norman.
LIV GOLF CEO GREG NORMAN
We have just witnessed the future of golf in Adelaide, Australia. As promised by Greg Norman. Delivered by LIV GOLF. Watched LIVE in person by almost 100,000 spectators. Witnessed possibly by millions of golf fans around the world.
The drama. The spectacle. The thriller. Australia vs South Africa. A historical 100 year old sporting rivalry we have seen countless times on rugby and cricket grounds but never on a golf course.
Isn’t this what we have hoped to see for the last 2 and a half years? At least since the idea was first mooted at the beginning of LIV GOLF. Isn’t this what golf team competition is ultimately about? Only seen and dreamt off at Ryder Cups and finally translated to a team competition via LIV GOLF.
Minus all that noise surrounding the sport in the last 2 1/2 years. Call it exhibition golf or call it a circus. Call it 54 or call it 4 days of competition. Minus all that noise regarding who’s right or who’s wrong. From the arguments about who has taken the moral high ground to how many holes is considered legit in a golf tournament right down to the OWGR points debate to ultimately determine who gets to play in Majors. We have to ask ourselves the following question.
What is the sole purpose of LIV GOLF? Strip off all that noise. LIV GOLF is for the fans. Only louder.
