Collaborating with Bank Mandiri Again, the 2023 Indonesia Open Professional Golf Tournament Will Soon Be Held at Pondok Indah Golf

Jakarta, July 20, 2023 The Indonesia Open professional golf tournament will be held again at Pondok Indah Golf Course, Jakarta, on August 3–6. The most historic golf tournament in Indonesia will be sponsored by Bank Mandiri.

“The Indonesia Open is a routine activity for professional golfers and will also be attended by Indonesian amateur golfers. This year it will be held at Pondok Indah Golf Course again, where they will host the venue as well as the event organizer. This field has experience holding the Indonesia Open and other international tournaments. We hope that this tournament can raise the name of Indonesian golfers and increase the ranking of Indonesian golfers, both professional and amateur golfers,” said Japto Soerjosoemarno, Chairman of PB PGI. The Indonesia Open is Indonesia’s pride golf tournament and has been held since 1974.

Pondok Indah Golf hosted the Indonesia Open in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2022. Last year was also the venue for the Simone Asia Pacific Cup, a ladies’ professional tournament. This field, which is located in the South Jakarta area, hosted the 2018 Asian Games and was the only one that has ever hosted the World Cup of Golf, namely in 1983.

“We, the management of Pondok Indah Golf, really appreciate and are grateful to Mr. Japto as the General Chairperson of PB PGI for trusting us as the host for the Mandiri Indonesia Open 2023 venue. With a very short preparation time, we believe that with the cooperation of all the solid teams from Pondok Indah, PB PGI, and the Asian Tour, this tournament can be held smoothly and successfully as in previous years,” said Erick Purwanto, Director of Pondok Indah Golf Course.

This tournament will be attended by players registered on the Asian Tour. One of the star players who will be attending is Gaganjeet Bhullar, a golfer from India who won the Indonesia Open in 2013, 2016, and 2022. As the host, Indonesia will also receive an allocation of participants, both professional and amateur golfers.

The main director of Bank Mandiri, Darmawan Junaidi, said that it was hoped that this world-class golf event would be able to spark the enthusiasm of golf athletes in Indonesia and be able to make a positive contribution to the development of golf achievements in Indonesia.
